Idaho - High risk Health Insurance Pool & Individual Health Insurance Availability

The purpose of the Individual Health Insurance Availability Act is to promote the availability of health insurance coverage to persons not covered by employment-based insurance regardless of their health status or claims experience. Idaho Code, Chapter 55, Title 41, as it pertains to the Idaho Individual High Risk Reinsurance Pool, provides for the development and utilization of the prescribed Individual Basic, Standard and Catastrophic A and Catastrophic B health benefit plans to be offered to all individuals meeting the eligibility requirements for such plans. According to Chapter 52, Title 41, Idaho Code, (Individual Health Insurance Availability Act), a health benefit plan: (a) shall waive any time period application to a pre-existing condition exclusion or limitation period with respect to particular services for the period of time an individual was previously covered by qualifying previous coverage; (b) no break in qualifying coverage of greater than sixty-two (62) days; (c) new coverage effective on the 63rd day.
